This course will focus on reviewing the root causes of hormone imbalance. Providers will be provided with an in-depth review of common hormonal disorders in reproductive years, laboratory markers to include blood work, as well as salivary and urine testing metabolites. Practitioners will be provided with the most evidence-based research in regard to the controversial hormone replacement therapy and how to provide safe and effective HRT with regard to monitoring parameters and contraindications.

Curriculum

Lecture 1-

  • Assess the causes of hormonal imbalance
  • Establish causes of estrogen dominance
  • Review root causes of progesterone deficiency
  • Establish protocols for hormone lab testing
  • Review common nutraceuticals for supporting hormone imbalance

Lecture 2-

  • Discuss common hormonal disorders in reproductive years
  • Review the function of hormones
  • Establish optimal ranges in the premenopausal patient
  • Recognize hormone patterns

Lecture 3-

  • Establish the role of Estrogen in relation to menopause
  • Overview of common menstrual patterns as women approach menopause
  • Evaluate sexual health changes and treatment options
  • Review troubleshooting of elevated levels

Lecture 4-

  • Educate on the common symptoms, causes, and diagnostic criteria for PCOS, PMS, PMDD, fibrocystic breast, and uterine fibroids
  • Introduce the functional medicine approach to addressing these conditions, which emphasizes identifying and treating underlying imbalances in the body rather than just treating symptoms
  • Review the evidence supporting the use of specific nutrients, herbs, and other natural therapies in managing these conditions, and how they work to restore balance in the body.
  • Discuss the role of lifestyle factors such as diet, exercise, sleep, stress management, and toxin exposure in the development and progression of these conditions, and how they can be addressed through functional medicine interventions.
  • Provide practical tips and strategies that patients can use to incorporate functional medicine principles into their own lives to support optimal reproductive health and hormone balance
